Lee Lee Chan
Hong Kong, China
Lee Lee Chan's works conflate measured composure with intuitive exploration. Engaged in a variety of different disciplines (sculpture, painting, print), her works lead with a sensorial primacy, engaging and utilizing the media of her immediate undertaking to exceptional effect. Perhaps influenced by her sculptural practice, Chan's works on paper convey a sense of object weight and order, equipoised between intention and chance. Space and light are primary players in Chan's craft; calling out visually in strains not unlike like music, and meter, and volume, and tone.
Lee Lee Chan received her MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and her BFA from the School of Art Institute of Chicago. Chan has had shows in various venues including Artemis Project Space (York, UK), Flux Factory (Long Island City, NY), Horse Trader Gallery (Brooklyn, NY), Parallel Art Space (Ridgewood, NY), and Three Season Gallery (Chicago, IL). Her work has been covered by Hardzine Magazine, Bushwick Daily, Art F City, and The Providence Journal. The artist lives and works in Hong Kong, China.
